Cockroaches in Fuerteventura resorts – Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Morro Jable – are a normal feature of the island’s year-round warmth, not a sign of a dirty hotel. If you see one in your room:
- Photograph it if you safely can – helps staff identify the species and act quickly
- Tell reception the same day, even for a single sighting

Mosquitoes in Fuerteventura

Aedes aegypti and the Tiger Mosquito
The yellow fever mosquito (Aedes aegypti) was detected on Fuerteventura between 2017 and 2023 and was eradicated through island control campaigns. The Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), established on mainland Spain, has not established on Fuerteventura so far. No special traveller precautions are needed beyond standard repellent use.
